“‘How heavy is a tear?”
“The tear of a capricious child weighs less than wind,
that of a hungry child weighs more than all the earth.”
– Gianni Rodari

And that of a mother?
How can we talk about anything when children are hungry and mothers have to stare at those eyes? These same eyes?
Elsa Morante used to say that the only true love phrase is “have you eaten?
Yemeni mothers cannot ask this same question. They know the answer and cannot change reality. It does not depend on them.
War will never give any mother any answer.
And children, Yemeni children, will continue to wear jackets, the blazers of real man.
On empty stomachs.

The world is heavy tonight.
